Bio:
Associação Indígena Pykôre’s work is carried out exclusively by Kayapó women in Brazil, who use seeds, wood, but mainly beads, as well as cloth paintings made with genipapo, a fruit typical of the Amazon. In addition to handcrafted pieces, they also produce shirts printed with the graphic designs used on bodies during traditional festivals and ceremonies. They also feature a young artist who creates caricatures of Indigenous leaders. Their originality is unique: Kayapó drawings and paintings are striking, carry the strength of Indigenous identity, and cannot be found among other Peoples, making each piece an authentic expression of culture.
