Silvermoon Mars LaRose (Narragansett)

Silvermoon Mars LaRose (Narragansett) has worked in Tribal communities for over 20 years serving in the areas of health and human services, education, and humanities. As the Assistant Director of the Rhode Island-based Tomaquag Museum, she hopes to foster Indigenous empowerment through education, community building, and the sharing of cultural knowledge and traditional arts.

The mission of the Tomaquag Museum is to educate all of our relations (everyone) on Indigenous cultures of the Dawnland (focus Southern New England) through engagement and shared dialogue to reconcile the past and empower present and future generations. As Rhode Island’s only Indigenous-led museum, the Tomaquag Museum envisons a future where all our relations will understand the history and culture of the Indigenous Peoples of the Dawnland, recognize and understand the impact of conquest and colonization on Indigenous Peoples today, and take action to create equity.
