Sara founded Chinampa Temachtiani, a 501 3c organization focused on saving Axolotls from extinction
She has been active in restoring and cultivating farmlands in the ancestral homelands of Xochimilco, Mexico.
Through ecotourism, Chinampa Temachtiani has made efforts to stimulate the local economy addresses the issue of forced migration of people to the border. Their goal: to give local people and their relatives the opportunity to stay home instead of having to leave their homes just to survive.
Over the last 6 years Sara has been a vendor at various powwows and festivals as part of her efforts to support Indigenous artisans of Mexico. This generates income for her family, as well as for the many families impacted by the organizations collaboration. While vending they use the name Tianquiztli for their booth, which is what Saras ancestors called ancient market places in our language Nahuatl.
