Bio:

The Laureke workshop uses different jewelry techniques: -Casting techniques for the transformation of the metal into 925 silver. -Rolling and spinning techniques, for the preparation of the metal, then applying the design to be made. -embossing and chiselling techniques, which consists of molding the metal heet, with the blow of hammers on chisels. -Forging techniques, which consists of molding metals directly with a hammer on the metal sheet. -Welding techniques for the union of pieces, with the use of a blowtorch. -polishing techniques for the shiny finish of the piece. The designs and products that we make at Taller Laureke represent Andean cultures, especially Quechua and Aymara. The "tupus" or pins that are used in Andean clothing, is the most representative jewel of Andean cultures. Also in the ornamentation of women, the earrings called "faluchos" are traditionally used. Both the "faluchos" and the "tupus" are used in the patron saint festivities, carnival and in everyday life. In Andean jewelry, flowers, animals and objects from the Andean environment are represented, which are reflected in earrings, pin rings, necklaces. The material we work with is sterling silver, and recycled materials such as wood and bull horn.
