The Indigenous Organization of La Guajira (YANAMA) is a collective initiative built by Wayuù men and women who came together to reclaim and strengthen Indigenous education within Wayuù communities. Rooted in collaboration, YANAMA embodies the spirit of yanama—a traditional Wayuù practice of participatory and collective work—and reflects the diversity, resilience, and cultural richness of the Wayuù people.

Guided by the principles of Unity, Territory, Culture, and Autonomy, YANAMA works to promote Buen Vivir (Living Well), the full and effective enjoyment of human rights, and respect for Mother Earth. The organization advocates for the strengthening of Indigenous education, the recognition and protection of the collective rights of the Wayuù people, and the preservation of the cultural and ethnic integrity of the Wayuù Nation, with a particular focus on supporting its most vulnerable communities.
